Who We Are
Cultivator Law launched in December 2025 with the goal of delivering expert legal services to creators and innovators irrespective of their postcode with the reduced overheads of a remote-first model. This makes it possible to provide a first class service in a cost-effective manner for clients at all business and career stages.
We are curious. We believe in advising as a collaborator. We want to understand what drives you and your business. That's how we can be a great business partner.
Equally, we would like our clients to appreciate that we are not a traditional law firm in all respects. We think and do things differently. So, if you choose to work with us, we trust that you understand that we seek a collaboration based on mutual respect for all individuals involved as whole people, with lives enriched by time with family and personal passions. In particular, we believe that lawyers with their own personal creative pursuits make for better lawyers for creative people.
Meet Marie Foyle
Marie is the Founder and Principal of Cultivator Law, a dedicated legal partner ready to help you thrive.
She has 20+ years of experience working across the Asia Pacific region as a senior legal advisor to global media companies, like Disney, FremantleMedia and Turner across traditional broadcast, online and streaming platforms and in TV development and production. She also has significant experience in leadership roles at not-for-profit organisations, including as General Counsel for the copyright collecting society Screenrights and as Principal Solicitor of the Arts Law Centre of Australia. Marie has also lectured in Entertainment Law (music, film and TV) at a tertiary level and has experience in various TV development roles and as an animation producer for Cartoon Network.
Accordingly, Marie is well positioned to understand the unique challenges faced by individual creators, innovators and their related businesses when trying to ensure their work and intellectual property is appropriately valued and protected.
Her personal passion for innovation and creativity drives her commitment to providing outcome-focused legal solutions that empower her clients.
Outside of the law, Marie is always trying new things (yet not claiming to be an expert in any of them) whether that be screenwriting, improv, stand up, singing or playing one of the various instruments that take up an inordinate amount of space in her house. She is not however known for pulling out an acoustic guitar at a party.
